YAK BERA

Yak Bera aka “demon drum” is used for low country dances like devil dances that involve masks and rituals like the folk play Kolam. This double-headed, barrel-shaped drum is played with both hands. The wooden body is about three feet in length; the heads are covered with the stomach lining of a cow, and the strings used to tighten the sides are made from cattle skin.
